Class Grading
Grading: This course is graded pass/no pass. Incompletes are not given.
A passing grade requires a C (70% or 1659 points) or better, as well as:
à Missing 4 or more classes will result in a no pass grade
It is the policy of this instructor that any student found
guilty of plagiarism will receive a no pass.
Class Dress: Please dress appropriately for being outdoors – we will be outside for at least part of class most weeks, and may get wet and/or muddy! Please do not “wear” any type of music players during class.
Cell Phones: During class cell phones and text messaging tools should be turned to silent or off, unless you are in the middle of an emergency situation, in which case it should be cleared with Tiare ahead of time. If your phone rings during class, Tiare will answer it for you.
Tardy Policy: Coming in late is disruptive to the class and your education, therefore you will lose 20 points each time you are tardy.
Late work will lose 10% of the possible points for each class it is late. This includes work you forget to turn in at the end of class.
Inadequate answers will be noted on your work. You will not receive credit for the inadequate question until it has been rewritten satisfactorily. You will have two weeks to rewrite your answers.
Extra credit is available on the class website (http://dl.clackamas.edu/tsheller/) to make up for missing in-class work. No more than 15% (or 355 points) of the total class points may be made up through extra credit.
Class Drop Policy: Please inform Tiare if at any time you decide not to continue in this class. Dropping without informing the school, or dropping after February 28th, will result in a no pass grade.
Learning Disabilities: If you are aware of, or suspect you may have, a learning disability, please discuss it with Tiare during the first week of class so that alternative assignments can be made for you. Do not wait until the end of the quarter!
Question Box: At the end of each day you will have the opportunity to write down one meaningful question about what you have studied during the class period. This is designed to get you thinking -- asking questions is the way you will learn! Tiare will privately answer each of your questions.
"Once you have learned how to ask relevant and appropriate questions, you have learned how to learn and no one can keep you from learning whatever you want or need to know."
