Lab Identification of Compounds

Your last task for this lesson is to identify a few unknown organic compounds, or at least to figure out what kinds of compounds they are. To do this you should take into account the information you can gather about each compound from its IR spectrum, solubility in water and the lab tests you have experimented with for the past few lessons.

Instructions for this are in your workbook in Part III of the Experiment for this lesson. Ask the instructor in lab for a set of unknowns and have her/him show you where to find the IR data for your unknowns.  The experiment for this lesson, including the identification of your unknowns, should be turned in. Except for taking the self-quiz and reviewing, this experiment is the last of this week's lesson. When you are through with it, you will be finished with this lesson. Good luck to you on the quiz and on identifying your unknowns.
