Formation
Aldehydes can be formed by a few different kinds of reactions. The one shown here you have already seen (in Example 13 in your workbook) is the oxidation of a primary alcohol. This is the one you need to know for now.
In the next lesson, you will learn that aldehydes can also be formed by the reduction of carboxylic acids.
