Aldehydes

Aldehydes are compounds that are very similar to ketones. The essential difference is that the carbonyl group is at the end of a carbon chain.

In this section we will consider the structure, properties and nomenclature of aldehydes. We will also look at some of the reactions by which aldehydes are formed, converted to other compounds and identified in the lab.
