BondingIn this section we will look at hybridization, types of bonding, and a variety of related topics. We take up these topics now because the unsaturated compounds contain a significantly different arrangement of electrons in their bonds that does not exist in alkanes that we studies in the previous lesson. This different arrangement of electrons results in a change in the reactivity of these compounds and restrictions on the geometric shapes of these molecules. When applied to biochemical compounds these changes result in the nutritional differences between saturated and unsaturated fats.
