OrientationOn-Line Presentation of CH 106Introductory Chemistry has been taught at Clackamas Community College for three decades. During that time both the content and the presentation have evolved. In Fall 1998 CH 104 was made available in this on-line + lab format. CH 105 was made available in Winter 2000 and CH 106 in Spring 2001. The intent of this Orientation (along with the Syllabus) is provide you with information about the course content, expectations, and mode of delivery. Using This Web SiteThis course operates using a web-site format only and does not use the Authorware format that was used in some of the CH 104 and CH 105 lessons. The course material will be presented simply as web pages using that format. Accordingly, you will need to learn to use the navigation features of this format. The Navigation page of this "Orientation" will introduce you to those features, some of which you have used just getting to this page. Click on the Navigation link in the left border of this page to get there. The Syllabus section contains information about instructors, lab hours, topics, due dates, final exam, and grading. (Click on the Syllabus button at the top of this page.) Each lesson contains objectives and assignments (such as reading assignments and lab exercises to be turned in). These are also listed in your workbook for the course. Be sure to study the objectives because they tell you specifically what you will be held responsible for in each lesson (in quizzes and final exam). The assignments will tell what needs to be turned in for each lesson. Although you will not need it for the presentations in this web site, you may be interested in Chime and RasMol. They are programs that allow you to view three-dimensional models of organic and biochemicals compounds on your computer monitor. Information and links to them are on the Chime RasMol page.
